Grammar -- Run-on Sentences

To avoid run-on sentences use end marks (i.e. periods, question marks and exclamation marks) to separate two sentences.

Bad example: During World War II, General Patton landed in Africa, he pushed the Germans off the continent and up into Italy.

Good example: During World War II, General Patton landed in Africa. He then proceeded to push the Germans off the continent and up into Italy.
